Dark and Painful

Last night, as I was scouring through the Internet for APD research (which I usually do between 12am and 2am), I came across a really cool video of this little boy with APD. I couldn't wait to post about it! I couldn't wait to link the world to his Facebook page, either. I couldn't wait... until I found other videos. So, the next few days I will be sharing 3 videos with kids who have APD. There are many more, but these meant the most to me. In fact one, in particular, left me with only a couple hours of sleep last night.

And, that's the one I'm sharing first.

This video contains a 15 1/2 year old girl who has APD. At first, I didn't want to open up the video because it screamed, "Look out! Teenage Angst!" And, for those who know me, I don't do teenage angst very well. (Just ask the ladies who dragged me to the Twilight Saga movies.) But, I opened it. And then I read the comments... which said even more than this young girl's confused, sad ramblings about not being understood. In fact, her comments said that she did horribly at school when she was my son's age... failing school in the 1st grade. Now, she says she's a straight A student. That's great news! Unfortunately, all the worry, depression and anxiety seem to overshadow even that great news.

Here's the video.
***Please note that at the 2:27 mark, she says the "F word". That's the only curse word in this, so feel free to cough so you don't hear it.***

On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.  Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63:6-8 (NIV)

  1. Dark and painful is right, Kat. Oh my. The part that got me the most was, "I think I understand...but I don't". How frustrating that must be!
